52 Weeks Project – February

Here’s my February update to my 52 Weeks Project. Two new photos, and two old ones! Week 5, ”I left my heart in…” is from a 2006 trip to Germany. As much as I wanted to, I couldn’t hop on a plane to Germany that week, so I went with that photo to represent where I left my heart. The Eifel (not to be confused with the Eiffel Tower!) is a gorgeous region of Germany. Week 6 was a fun theme, “a song or movie title”. I have a stuffed octopus that I wanted to feature, so what better song than Octopus’s Garden by The Beatles? Week 7 was “light”. My plants are indoors still for the winter, and they need all the light they can get. Week 8 was a busy week for me, so I selected a photo from my 2008 summer trip to Florence as my pick for “laughter”.

52 Weeks Project – January

I’m currently participating in a 52 Weeks project put together by LensProtoGo. (As an aside, I haven’t rented gear from them yet, but I have ordered a used lens during one of their sales… great customer service!) Anyway, it’s a project like Project 365, but instead of taking a photo every day for a year, you take a photo a week for a year; each week has a different theme. (I attempted a 365 project back in 2008, but only got about a 1/3 of the way through.)

So, here it is, my very first post to bearica.com! I’m going to use this blog to talk about all my work, not just what makes it into my portfolio. If you want to see that, just head back to the main page. Otherwise, here you’ll see my Flickr updates, my day-to-day work, and my artistic musings.

Commentary on my photos may vary. Sometimes I like to let the image speak for itself, and sometimes I’ll give a little back story. Like this photo. Not much to say about the standard issue Army blinds at work… except that they get dusty a lot!
